Cooperation with PIARC

The team of SE «National Institute for Development Infrastructure» takes an active role in international cooperation within the Technical Committees of the PIARC association.

For reference: PIARC, or the World Road Association, is a global organization that brings together the leadership of road (transport) infrastructure from 125 countries around the world. The main objective of PIARC is to exchange knowledge and experience in the field of road development, to shape common policies and trends, and to serve as a powerful platform for analyzing and discussing various issues related to roads and transport.

At one of the recent meetings, the Technical Committee proposed organizing a scientific and practical seminar in Mexico on financing and prioritization issues. SE «National Institute for Development Infrastructure», as a leading scientific institution in the road sector, proposed the title “Roads as a Catalyst for Sustainable and Inclusive Development”, which was unanimously supported by the committee members.

Currently, specialists from SE «National Institute for Development Infrastructure» are preparing two presentations for the seminar: one on basic technical and economic criteria for prioritizing road projects, and another on the road safety index as a basis for prioritizing road projects. The abstracts of these presentations were today approved by the relevant PIARC Technical Committee for presentation.

In addition, within the meetings of other PIARC Technical Committees, interesting technical solutions from various countries were discussed regarding road safety, including left-turn traffic flows, cyclists, and the expansion of drivers’ field of vision.

It is important that PIARC Technical Committees are currently conducting sectoral surveys in various areas, such as road and transport infrastructure planning for economic and social security, road safety, winter maintenance, asset management, bridges, and road design.

We continue our work on the international stage to incorporate best global practices into our regulatory framework.
