Software for Transport Modelling

On January 23, 2025, the team of SE «National Institute for Development Infrastructure» took part in the annual meeting of users of transport modelling software in Ukraine, organized by Bespalov LAB: transport modelling.

At the event, leading experts from different regions of Ukraine discussed the prospects for the development of transport modelling in Ukraine and exchanged practical experience in using PTV Traffic Suite software products, as well as presentations of new capabilities of PTV software and additional functions in transport modelling.

During the event, Artem Bezuglyi, Director of SE «National Institute for Development Infrastructure», expressed the Institute’s readiness to act as the operator of the National Transport Model of Ukraine, created with the support of the EU. In recent years, the Institute’s team has taken important steps to improve the regulatory and methodological framework for transport modelling in Ukraine. In particular:

– it introduced the application of evidence-based transport planning and modelling methods in state construction standards for the design and construction of public roads, as well as streets and roads in settlements;
– it developed Methodological Recommendations for transport flow modelling when assessing the effectiveness of design solutions for road infrastructure;
– it prepared a draft amendment to the Methodology for determining the financing scope for the construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of public roads, which will be approved by a joint order of the Ministry for Development and the Ministry of Finance, providing for the use of information and analytical systems based exclusively on verified data from surveys and asset inventories when forming the list of road construction projects.
