Transport, infrastructure and parking in a modern city
Today, I presented the latest regulatory innovations regarding the development of urban road infrastructure at the session “Transport, infrastructure and parking in a modern city” within the framework of the international exhibition “City Trans&Parking”.
SE “DerzhdorNDI” is a leader in updating the regulatory framework, having revised more than 300 regulatory documents related to the road sector in recent years.
Recent updates in national standards:
- DSTU 4100 (effective from 01.11.2021)
The standard introduces new principles for the design of individually designed road signs (e.g., a new rule for writing settlement names: the first letter is uppercase, while the rest are lowercase); introduces new signs and supplementary plates to support cycling infrastructure; and establishes a new algorithm for positioning signs on panels and background structures. - DSTU 2587 (effective from 01.08.2021)
The standard expands road markings to include parking areas for taxis and electric vehicle charging, approaches to roundabouts and pedestrian crossings (especially near schools), prohibition of entering intersections during congestion, designated stopping areas within tram stops, etc. - DSTU 4036 (effective from 01.08.2021)
The standard defines requirements for road marking inserts, including active elements (with internal lighting) and passive elements (reflective), which may operate synchronously with traffic signals and can be installed both on road markings and curbs.
Work is currently underway to amend DBN V.2.3-5:2018 “Design and Construction of Streets and Roads in Settlements”.
We invite everyone to actively participate in public discussion of draft documents:

Much work still lies ahead in implementing best international practices to improve road safety and create a safe transport infrastructure. We are moving together toward the Vision Zero concept.
