INTERNATIONAL EVENTS

“DerzhdorNDI” SE specialists are increasing constantly the level of their awareness for the proper scientific support of "Big Construction" National Program. This week three Skype conferences of international level were held with the participation of the Institute's specialists.

FEHRL

The first was the Conference of FEHRL Research Coordinators.  Due to online-meeting format, th representatives of all 34 FEHRL member institutions were gathered. This gave an opportunity to work productively and solve a number of tasks that were scheduled for the meeting, including the following:

• FEHRL members' participation in HORIZON2020, CEDR 2019 and PIARC projects;

• Perspective thematic directions of researches in HORIZON EUROPE program;

• Creating of a virtual database of local scientific events.

Especially, the inclusion of “DerzhdorNDI” SE  in the Consortium was noted, which will work under the aegis of PIARC on “Impact of overweight vehicles on infrastructure” – the topic which funding has been already approved.

RCC

The second conference was a meeting with William L. Wiggs, CTO of a Danish road construction material supplier.

William Wiggs presented the US experience and practical aspects of RCC (Roller Compacted Concrete) technology, as well as the application of a number of additives for cement concrete mixtures.

KTI

The third conference was a meeting with Professor László Gáspár, a representative of the Hungarian Institute of Transport Sciences - KTI.

The experience of Hungary in the development of the roller compacted concrete technology was heard as well as the issues of rationing of the characteristics of rigid mixtures were discussed.

Much attention was paid to the use of secondary products of the industry, in particular slag, in the elements of the road structure. Professor Gaspar presented his own experience of the using of slag in road construction. The Hungarian Professor noted different approaches and points of view regarding the use of industrial wastes, both the benefits and the disadvantages in the process of use of slag in the top layers of the road pavement were highlighted.

The exchange of knowledge and information about the world experience in the implementation of modern technologies is the key to the development of scientific community and the road economy as a whole.
