On 15–16 July 2021, the scientific and practical seminar “Current issues in the construction and maintenance of cement concrete pavements” commenced. It was organized by Ukravtodor, SE “DerzhdorNDI”, and the Association of Cement Producers “Ukrcement”.

More than 100 specialists in the construction, repair, and maintenance of cement concrete pavements from all over Ukraine took part in the event, working both in the hall and online.

The topic of cement concrete roads is very relevant, especially in southern Ukraine, where there is high traffic intensity of heavy vehicles.

Why the issue of cement concrete road construction is becoming more active in Ukraine:

  • shortage of high-quality domestically produced bitumen;
  • continuous increase in bitumen prices and high import dependence;
  • lower sensitivity of cement concrete pavements to climatic conditions;
  • longer maintenance intervals for cement concrete roads;
  • high level of localization due to available domestic cement production capacity.

Over the two days, participants had the opportunity to learn about current developments in regulatory support, the latest scientific research, and modern design solutions regarding new materials and technologies for road construction projects with cement concrete pavements. In addition, a site visit to the H-14 highway was organized, where cement concrete pavement works were actively underway.
