UN MEETING
UN MEETING
This week, Artem Bezuglyi, Director of "DerzhdorNDI" SE participated in the 118th session of the Working Party of Experts on Road Transport (SC.1) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva as a member of the official delegation of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
During the meeting, as part of the consideration of the issue "Safe and Sustainable Road Infrastructure", Artem Bezuglyi presented to the delegates the practical experience of Ukraine in implementing audit and inspection of road safety. In Ukraine, these procedures were developed in accordance with the requirements of Directive 2008/96/EC of the European Parliament of November 19, 2008 "On the management of road infrastructure safety" and started to be applied since 2020, which allowed to reduce the level of road accidents and the number of victims of road accidents.
"DerzhdorNDI" SE is actively involved in the development of construction standards and regulations. Due to this, many innovations in the field of road safety have been introduced in Ukraine, such as
- application of safety islands on the roads to improve pedestrian safety at crossings;
- the use of modern technical solutions to calm traffic, such as speed bumps and elevated pedestrian crossings;
- bringing technical requirements for road signs in line with European practice;
- preventing accidents through the use of longitudinal noise strips if the driver falls asleep at the wheel;
- improving the design of overhead pedestrian crossings for better visibility.
A wonderful epigraph to A. Bezugli's presentation was the screening of the short film "Save Me" by Ukrainian director Dubrovina Marina, which won the Grand Prix of the Global road safety film festival-2022. The film can be viewed at the link below:
