IMPLEMENTING AMERICAN STANDARDS

On June 07, Artem Bezuglyi, Director of "DerzhdorNDI" SE started his working visit to the USA to study and further implement the best American practices in the construction of cement concrete roads in Ukraine. In Chicago, he met with representatives of the Illinois Department of Transportation and inspected the production facilities of Ozinga, the largest supplier of cement concrete mixtures in the United States.

In Ukraine, we will implement American standards, rules and specifications for the construction of cement-concrete paved roads and use invaluable information from our American partner colleagues in our practical activities!

From the most interesting:
- each state has its own norms, standards and technical specifications, which usually depend on climatic, hydrological and other conditions of the area (in total, there are more than 50 different documents in the United States);
- the customer assigns most of the responsibility for quality control to contractors and material producers, who transparently ensure incoming and operational quality control using modern information systems;
- the customer, represented by the state Department of Transportation, monitors quality control in the amount of at least 20 percent of the total volume of tests, and for certain works involves private laboratories on a competitive basis, using only non-price criteria;
- cement and concrete mix producers pay attention to the logistics component - they actively use inland waterways to transport raw materials to reduce the load on roads and reduce production costs.

Importantly, we are currently taking an important step towards improving Ukraine's regulatory framework for cement and concrete technologies in line with US standards.
