Use of local materials and industrial by-products in road construction

One of our important achievements this year is the organization and holding of the international scientific and practical seminar “Use of local materials and industrial by-products in road construction”.

It is particularly important that both domestic experts and international specialists from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Italy shared their experience regarding the use of various industrial waste materials in road construction.

The seminar gathered 250 participants, including representatives of public authorities, regional road services, regional road enterprises, regional state administrations, organizations responsible for local roads, design, research, contracting, and industrial organizations.

During the seminar, the potential use of the following types of waste in the road sector was discussed:

  • coal, metallurgical, blast-furnace, and steelmaking slags;
  • coal waste;
  • fly ash and ash residues;
  • brick, slate, and glass waste;
  • spent oil shale;
  • rubber crumb;
  • food waste, and others.

We are confident that the consolidation of efforts by public authorities, clients, contractors, designers, and researchers will help address environmental challenges and contribute to reducing the cost of road works.
