PARTICIPATION IN SENSKIN INTERNATIONAL PROJECT
The Third SENSKIN Reporting Meeting had been held this year in Brussels, Belgium with the participation of European Commission representatives; discussing the SENSKIN project results.
During the reporting meeting, the participants presented results of work in all areas of the project, including development of information collection transmitters, data collection system modules, communication and data transmission elements, power sources, data transmission and processing modules, software and other components.
The Main European Commission Representative (Project Customer) at the meeting was Sergio Escriba (EU Project Officer), who uttered an opening speech and worked with data of the speakers.
Evangelos Sdongos (ICCS, Greece), a representative of the leader of the Consortium Management Project working group, reported about the work executed to provide working meetings during the project, including field studies on bridges in Greece and Turkey.
Corrado Sanna (TECNIC S.p.A. consulting firm, Rome, Italy) the representative of the leader of the Structural Assessment Modules" project working group reported about the work carried for the selection of areas for installation of information collection modules. He executed an analysis of the recent accidental destruction of Morandi Bridge in Genoa (Italy). He accented the need to apply bridge monitoring systems, in particular the SENSKIN monitoring system.
The representative of “DerzhdorNDI” State Enterprise at this meeting was Head of the Department of Transport Facilities and Cement Structures Ihor Babyak.
During the meeting with the representatives of the project implementation institutions, the implementation of stages of the monitoring system, data collection system, communication and system integration, experimental testing of the monitoring and data collection system, the dissemination of the obtained results and participation in work with stakeholders of the SENSKIN “DerzhdorNDI” SE results had been discussed.
At this stage, the prototype of the monitoring system has been tested on field objects. Up-to-date information on the monitoring system can be found on the website of the SENSKIN Consortium.
