TRAINING IN JAPAN
Specialists from SE "National Institute for Infrastructure Development" — Head of the Center for Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Research Serhii Illiash, and Head of the Construction Production Organization Department Tania Stasiuk — participated in a training program over the past two weeks in Tokyo, Matsuyama, Oyama, Masaki, and Toon, Japan.
The training was organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of Japan’s assistance to Ukraine under the program “The Business Promotion Program for Emergency Repair of Roads with All-Weather Pavement Repair Material Using Rubble in Ukraine.”
Objective of the training: to familiarize participants with Japanese approaches to emergency road repairs, particularly the use of recycled materials.
The training included a series of working meetings, educational modules, and practical sessions, including:
-
Discussions with representatives of the Nichireki Research Institute, who showcased their cutting-edge laboratory facilities and presented innovative approaches in construction technologies;
-
Visits to the production facilities of IKEE CORPORATION, where participants learned about the manufacturing processes, laboratory testing, installation, and technical supervision of the innovative pothole repair material "Excel Patch," which is suitable for year-round road repairs.
In addition, NIDI specialists shared their own experience with Japanese colleagues regarding potential road repair methods in Ukraine, and presented Ukraine’s reconstruction plans along with the role of SE "NIDI" in this effort.
During the visit, the team gained invaluable experience and developed a roadmap for further cooperation. We express our sincere gratitude to the people of Japan for their significant support and assistance during these challenging times.
