TRANSPORT MODELING
On January 23, the team of SE "National Institute for Infrastructure Development" participated in the annual meeting of transport modeling software users in Ukraine, organized by Bespalov LAB.
At the event, leading experts from various regions of Ukraine discussed the prospects for the development of transport modeling in Ukraine, shared practical experience in using PTV Traffic Suite software, and presented new software capabilities and additional functions in transport modeling.
During the event, Artem Bezuglyi, Director of SE "National Institute for Infrastructure Development", expressed the Institute's readiness to act as the operator of Ukraine’s National Transport Model, developed with EU support. Over the past years, the Institute's team has taken significant steps to improve the regulatory and methodological framework for transport modeling in Ukraine, including:
- Incorporating evidence-based transport planning and modeling methods into state building codes for the design and construction of public roads, streets, and highways in settlements.
- Developing Methodological Recommendations for Transport Flow Modeling to assess the effectiveness of road infrastructure project solutions.
- Preparing a draft amendment to the Methodology for Determining the Financing Volume for Road Construction, Reconstruction, Repair, and Maintenance, which will be approved by a joint order of the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Finance. The amendment mandates the use of information-analytical systems filled with verified data from inspections and road asset management when forming the list of road construction projects.
We sincerely thank Dmytro Bespalov, head of Bespalov LAB, and his team for being true drivers of transport modeling implementation in Ukraine.
