The specialists of “DerzhdorNDI” SE regularly conduct research on the ways of introduction of modern materials and technologies.
Recently, in accordance with the appeals of Malazhyk L.P. and Maurer V.M., close cooperation is underway on the implementation of an experimental project on the planting of protective lanes along highways using energy willow (poplar) to provide snow, wind protection and environmental functions.
This project deserves special attention because it has shown good results in the world practice and has considerable positive experience. At the same time, widespread implementation requires testing on separate sections along highways in Ukraine.
The advantages of energy efficient trees and plants are their rapid growth, which in turn makes it possible to obtain timber quickly. This wood can later be used as fuel for local heat plants and power generating companies. From this point of view, the most promising places for testing are right-of-way areas of public roads of local (regional and district) importance.
Our specialists are currently searching for a pilot site and developing a research program.
