Modern information technologies in the road sector
On 13 December 2017, a scientific and practical seminar “Modern information technologies in the road sector” was held in Kyiv.
It is worth noting that over the past decade, Ukravtodor has carried out significant work on developing legislative and regulatory frameworks for the implementation of geoinformation technologies in the road sector. Individual software and analytical systems – components of the future GIS of highways – have already gone through several generations, are continuously being improved, and are accumulating databases and knowledge.
Based on the results of the seminar, a number of recommendations were developed for road services and regional state administrations.
Road services were recommended to:
- facilitate the completion of all necessary works on determining the spatial coordinates of public roads of state importance – the basis for deploying Ukravtodor’s GIS;
- continue work on maintaining and updating the databases of sectoral software and analytical systems.
Regional state administrations were recommended to:
- study the possibility of applying Ukravtodor’s regulatory and legal framework for activities related to the maintenance of the network of public roads of local importance;
- consider the use of sectoral software and analytical systems in their operations;
- consider the development of prospective plans for the development of local roads using sectoral software and analytical systems.
