LONGITUDINAL PARKING

“DerzhdorNDI” SE proposes to supplement the requirements regarding arrangement of temporary car parking spaces in the draft Amendment No. 1 to DBN “Street and Roads of Settlements”.  

This proposal had been made on the basis of:

  • studied designing experienced in many cities of Europe;
  • already submitted proposals from indifferent Ukrainian specialists.

The types of car arrangement in road pockets or additional lanes (longitudinal, perpendicular, angled) directly influences the traffic safety and the comfort of driving by the main and residential streets.

Choosing of type of car arrangement depends on the following:

  • traffic volume parameters;
  • speed mode;
  • urban development category of the street;
  • composition of road users..

For main and residential streets, we recommend the longitudinal parking arrangement. Other types could be accepted by appropriate justification. For example, if the trajectory and speed of the vehicle that leaving the parking place does not create a risk to other road users, on the other hand, does not interfere with free and safe movement of pedestrians.

“DerzhdorNDI” SE specialists continue to study and implement the European experience to create safe conditions for all road users.
