Independent technical supervision – a guarantee of the quality of road works

On 25 June 2020, a round table “Independent technical supervision – a guarantee of the quality of road works” was held via Zoom.

The event was organized by SE “DerzhdorNDI” jointly with Ukravtodor, the CoST Ukraine initiative, the Guild of Technical Supervision Engineers, and the Public Council under Ukravtodor.

More than 100 participants took part in the event, including clients, international and domestic engineering companies, contracting organizations, as well as other enterprises and institutions.

During the meeting, a number of relevant issues regarding technical supervision were discussed:

  • regulatory and methodological support for road works quality control;
  • monitoring of procurement procedures for independent technical supervision on state roads;
  • public control functions over the quality of completed works;
  • specifics of training road technical supervision engineers;
  • mechanisms for determining the cost of independent technical supervision services;
  • international experience in construction supervision on infrastructure projects.

As a result of the round table, participants proposed developing a methodology for preparing tender documentation for the procurement of technical supervision services and methodological guidelines for determining the cost of such services, taking into account best international practices.
