NATIONAL STANDARD FOR PLANNING AND DESIGN OF BICYCLE INFRASTRUCTURE

In accordance with the National Standardization Program on 2019 and UkrNDNC Order No. 31 dated October 15, 2019 , the DSTU 8906:2019 -Planning and design of bicycle infrastructure.  General requirements had been approved and takes effect from October 1, 2020

The national standard was developed by the request of Association of Kyiv Cyclists with active support of public and state organizations of urban and road industries.

The document establishes requirements for basic parameters during the planning, design and construction of bicycle infrastructure in order to create safe and comfortable conditions for bicycle movement on public roads, streets and settlement roads and bicycle paths located out of  roads.

DSTU designed with taking into account the European and world experience of arrangement of bycicle infrastructure and highlights the following:

• organization of comfortable conditions for all road users;

• improving the safety for cyclists on the streets of settlements as well as on the public roads;

• engineering arrangement of bicycle paths;

• design requirements for the arrangement of bicycle infrastructure.
