BRIDGE CONFERENCE

“Current issues of bridge management and ways to improve it”- P.M. Koval First International Scientific and Practical Conference, organized by Ukravtodor together with “DerzhdorNDI” SE continued its work today in Zaporizhzhia.

Together with the participants of the Conference we developed the following proposals for the successful implementation of Bridge Rehabilitation Program:

• establishing qualification requirements in the Methodology of road procurements for works on certification, inspection and testing of bridges;

• ensuring timely inspections and certification of bridges, considering the requirements of state construction codes with subsequent entry of information into the AESUM database;

• creating a special commission of experts to check the reports on inspections and certification, as reliable technical information is the key to correct and effective management decisions based on information from AESUM;

• organizing a specialized training on bridge testing;

• developing the proposals for amendments to the DSTU for evaluation of the technical condition of bridges in terms of clarifying the terminology and removing the obligation to use the algorithm for determining the residual resource;

• developing a 5-year decommissioning program for all string concrete bridges (VTP-15, VTP-16, VTP-17 problematic standard projects) by replacing of them or by developing recommendations / regulations for repairing of such structures;

• active use of information from the Road Innovation Portal for considering the latest materials and technologies;

• scientific and technical support provision involvement for designing to enable the implementation of world best practices;

• designers considering the aesthetic appeal when designing bridges;

• promoting the practice of use of corrugated structures in the construction of transport structures on the roads, considering the variant design;

• active promoting the WIM modeling development
