BRIDGE CONFERENCE
On November 1-3, the III International Scientific and Practical Conference named after P.M. Koval "Topical Issues of Bridge Management and Ways to Improve It" was held in a mixed format (in person in Ivano-Frankivsk and remotely in ZOOM), organized by the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine and "DerzhdorNDI" SE.
The event brought together more than 250 bridge specialists from all over Ukraine, from the United States of America, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany and Hungary.
The topic of bridges is extremely relevant in view of the need to ensure the safety of regions and the state as a whole. The event covered a wide range of issues:
- innovations in the regulatory framework for the design, operation and testing of transport structures
- basic methods and modern technologies for diagnosing and assessing the condition of bridges;
- experience of countries around the world in regulatory support, inspection and ways to restore transport facilities;
- the results of inspections of bridges that have been damaged by blast loads and recommendations on the directions of their restoration;
- capabilities of modern information-analytical and expert systems;
- the latest materials and technologies for the restoration of transport facilities.
Based on the results of the conference, a resolution was prepared to be sent to the state authorities:
- to legislatively protect expenditures for the development and maintenance of bridge structures;
- ensure timely inspection and certification of bridges with subsequent mandatory entry of information into the AESUM software package;

- promote the introduction of automated systems for monitoring the technical condition of bridges;
- to provide for scientific and technical support at the design and construction stage in order to implement modern world practices and solve atypical issues, especially on bridges damaged by blast load;
- apply modern information tools in planning the development and maintenance of transport facilities;
- to increase the level of competence of specialists involved in the development and maintenance of bridge facilities, in particular by organizing specialized training on bridge testing and determining their load capacity;
- to consider and develop options for the production and use of prefabricated temporary collapsible metal bridges and the creation of their reserve;
- to ensure active work on updating the key DBN for bridges in view of the current challenges in the road industry.
