LECTURE BY GERMAN PROFESSOR

Today, Mr. Marcus Petschakher, the German scientist, Doctor of Technical Sciences, presented a lecture on the topic “Determination and prediction of the bridge structures condition under the active load of traffic flows on the basis of “Bridge Weigh-in-Motion” data sensors” in the auditorium of “DerzhdorNDI” SE.

M. Petschakher is a developer if the first road bridges monitoring system in Austria.

This event aroused great interest among road and bridge construction professionals who attended the lecture. Among them were representatives from:

• Road services in the regions,

• NTU,

• Ukravtodor,

• BETONENERGO Plant,

• Viacon LLC,

• Kyivavtoshliakhmist,

• Zhytomyr Regional State Administration and other organizations

Marcus Petschacher presented the experience of Austria, Estonia, Sweden and Thailand on the installation and operation of Bridge Weigh-in-Motion sensors, described the technical characteristics of the equipment, problems that appeared during operation and outlined the prospects of using the equipment for bridges in Ukraine. The possibility of using solar panels for power supply of sensors is interesting.

The lecture helped to improve the qualification level of road specialists, we hope to organize similar events on the basis of the main research institution in the road industry of Ukraine.
