UN INLAND TRANSPORT COMMITTEE
February 20-24, 2023 in Geneva , Artem Bezuglyi, Director of "DerzhdorNDI" SE as a member of the official delegation of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, took part in the work of 31st session of the Group of Experts on the European Agreement on the Work of Crews of Vehicles of International Road Transport and the 85th Session of the Inland Transport Committee of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. During meetings together with Ukrainian colleagues from the delegation had been done the following:
! Took part in the high-level segment on transport policy issues, which will be carried out by the relevant Ministries of different countries of the world regarding the global fight against climate change and joined the ministerial declaration "Using the full potential of solutions in the area of domestic transport in the global fight against climate change"
(more detail can be found by the link: https://unece.org/climate-change/press/fight-against-climate-change-centre-ministerial-declaration-adopted-uneces-0?fbclid=IwAR2ij0CGm4zzi7QpKr3RvWhME4OomybHwcYDBwJBtRWgKCLM8M0l6OTWTXU).
! Reported on the destruction caused by the Russian aggressor to the infrastructure of Ukraine and the measures taken to solve logistical problems.
! Sanction restrictions for the Russian Federation were defended, according to which Russian carriers will no longer be able to carry out international road transport in many countries of the world due to the lack of special driver cards for tachographs (these are devices that record the time drivers are behind the wheel in order to avoid violations of the rules of rest and work ).
! The document, which contains an overview of the project of technical assistance to Ukraine on issues of communication with neighboring countries and measures taken to respond to the negative impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine, was considered. That is, in fact, Russia was mentioned in the document as an aggressor country, and for such wording, the Ukrainian delegation initiated an open general vote among the countries of the world, which, in fact, rarely happens at such a meeting.
! Participated in the discussion of strategic issues of horizontal and cross-sectoral policy or regulatory nature regarding the implementation of international conventions and UN agreements within the framework of internal transport, challenges and new trends of internal transport in various regions, development of intelligent transport systems, traffic safety, transportation of dangerous cargoes, activation of work on the simplification of border crossing, intermodal transportation and logistics, inland water transport, transport statistics, activities related to the projects of the Trans-European road and railway line.
! They took part in a meeting in support of Ukraine near the UN office.
But the main thing is that thanks to the coordinated work of the Ukrainian delegation, the Permanent Representation of Ukraine at the UN branch and other international organizations in Geneva, and the support of our international partners, it was possible to prevent the representatives of the Russian aggressor from advancing a decision that would allow bypassing sanctions in the field of transport or avoiding responsibility for the attack on Ukraine .
We work together for the recovery of Ukraine!
