ROUND TABLE
On November 13, the team of the SE "National Institute for Infrastructure Development" organized a Round Table titled "Safe Road Infrastructure – the Key to Saving Lives on the Roads", which became an important platform for dialogue between road industry specialists, representatives of state authorities, research institutions, and educational establishments.
The Round Table was organized within the framework of the 8th UN Global Road Safety Week and the second stage of the national Road Safety Week.
The online session gathered nearly 150 specialists from various organizations and enterprises: representatives of clients, contractors, design organizations, research institutions, professional associations, suppliers of modern equipment, and the public.
During the Round Table, participants raised and commented on important current issues, including:
-
classification of motor roads and bringing it in line with European requirements;
-
implementation of modern permanent and temporary traffic management devices and ensuring their effective operation during power outages;
-
issues related to evaluating the socio-economic losses caused by road accidents;
-
problematic aspects of road accident recording and reporting;
-
identification of road accident concentration sites and sections;
-
ways to eliminate the most hazardous road sections, including areas with offset left turns on category I-b roads;
-
conducting road safety audits and inspections;
-
improving the qualifications of specialists in the field of road safety.
The results of the video contest “You Cannot Rewind Life” were also summarized. The contest brought together creative, engaged, and active participants and aimed to remind everyone of the importance of attentiveness on the road — both for drivers and pedestrians (especially children). The winner of the contest was Olena Trubitsyna-Smahlo: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17YH2D9wYG/?mibextid=wwXIfr
