EXPERIMENTAL ROAD SECTION
Today “DerzhdorNDI” SE specialists evaluated the technical state of the experimental road section, which built last year with the use of ash.
We have a real practical case - the construction of an access road to the pass of the first block of Burshtyn TPP (Ivano-Frankivsk region) with the use of industrial waste, scientific and technical support of which provided by our Institute.
In particular, the experiment involved the ash additive to the individual layers of the pavement structure (SP), namely:
• At the 1st section (200 m) SP provides 4 layers: 26 cm of crushed stone and sand mixture (CSSM) C5, which contains 30% wet ash from the dump; 12 cm of CSSM, reinforced with cement, containing 25% of wet ash from the dump and two layers, with a total thickness of 12 cm, bituminous-mineral mixture with complete replacement of mineral powder with dry fly ash.
• At the 2nd section (700 m) the construction of pavement provides the arrangement of two layers, with a total thickness of 12 cm, a mixture of bitumen-mineral with complete replacement of mineral powder with dry fly ash.
Six months of operation, taking into account the winter period, showed that the section is in a good condition.
Successful practical cases in the regions will help to spread the practice of using local materials in road construction, which will decrease the cost of road construction and solve environmental problems.
