CONCRETE ROADS 2023

From June 26 to June 28, 2023, Artem Bezuglyi, Director of the State Enterprise “DerzhdorNDI”, attended the Concrete Roads 2023 International Symposium in Kraków, Poland, which gathered more than 220 participants from 28 countries worldwide across all continents. As part of the event, nearly 80 speakers presented their experience and scientific achievements.

A range of topics was discussed, including:

– the durability of cement concrete pavements in Japan;
– the construction of the first cement concrete highway in South Africa;
– specifics of double-layer roller-compacted concrete used in Turkey;
– improving the resistance of cement concrete roads to flooding in the United States;
– possibilities of recycling concrete after 80 years of service, using the example of the A-18 motorway;
– heat energy generation through porous cement concrete pavement in France;
– the use of Whitetopping technology in the Czech Republic;
– the use of recycled rubber granules in protective concrete barriers.

As part of the symposium, participants from around the world also had the opportunity to visit the operational A1 motorway in the Silesian Voivodeship, the construction site of a cement concrete road inside a tunnel in Batowice, as well as pedestrian and bicycle paths in Skawina.

Our team is currently developing a set of regulatory documents for the construction of cement concrete roads, which will incorporate the best international practices.
