GREEN OR EMERALD STOP MANIPULATIONS!
NIDI SE, as a direct developer of this DSTU 4092:2024 “Road safety. Traffic lights. General technical specifications”, asks not to distort or manipulate the information, but to open and read the new standard first.
? What is it really about?
1. The new standard does not mention the word “emerald” in any way, and the colors of traffic lights are red, yellow and green, which are generally accepted in the world and comply with the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals.
2. According to the Ukrainian Explanatory Dictionary, emerald is a bright green color; according to the Dictionary of Synonyms of the Ukrainian Language, emerald is green (having the color of greenery, grass, etc.).
3. One of the many innovations introduced by the NIDI team in this standard was to bring the provisions of our standard regarding the boundaries of color zones for the green traffic signal in line with European requirements, where this color has been used for almost 10 years.
In simple words, the green color according to the new DSTU will visually become more saturated and brighter for better perception by all road users, but it will not be “emerald”, “bright green”, “greenish”, “grass” or any other color.
In addition, the innovations will apply only to new traffic lights that will be installed and will not affect traffic lights that have not yet expired.
Thus, Ukraine has had, has and will continue to have traffic lights where the green signal is the signal that allows traffic to proceed!
We would like to invite the experts who allow themselves to make such rash comments to engage in practical work on the documents at the stage of their development by submitting proposals during public discussions of this and dozens of other documents being developed by our team.
As it turned out, we have plenty of hype and betrayal seekers, but when it comes to work, only a few are actually working.
