WORKING VISIT

Artem Bezuglyi, Director of "DerzhdorNDI" SE, completed his working visit to the USA with a tour of the plant of Gomaco, the world leader in the production of the widest range of concrete placement equipment in the state of Iowa. The Company's production culture, longstanding positive history, and innovation are truly impressive. During the meeting, we managed to disprove several myths about Gomaco equipment.

There has always been a perception among Ukrainian manufacturers that American equipment is expensive. However, they do not take into account the fact that Gomaco concrete pavers have an automatic reinforcement system and the possibility of a single-layer cement concrete pavement (with a two-layer cement concrete pavement, the key problem is splicing the layers), which ultimately leads to a cheaper project. Our institute will definitely conduct a technical and economic comparison of different concrete paving equipment and present the results for public consideration.

It is inconvenient to maintain and repair Gomaco equipment because of the considerable distance from the United States. This is also not true, because Europe has long had warehouses with a sufficient number of components and spare parts.

So, during the several days of the visit to the United States, we were able to get acquainted with the latest achievements in the construction of cement concrete pavements, including modern equipment, to form an understanding of the mechanism of technology implementation during the reconstruction of roads and airfields in the post-war period, to find out the need and feasibility of harmonizing American standards. But what impressed me most was the openness of our American colleagues and their willingness to help us at such a difficult time for our country.
