BRIDGE INSPECTIONS

The team of the SE "National Institute for Infrastructure Development" continues to maintain leadership in bridge inspections across Ukraine. Since the beginning of this year alone, the Institute has inspected over 100 bridges with its own resources.

This leadership is made possible thanks to the highly qualified team of SE "NIDI" and the unique equipment received as international technical assistance under the Emergency Recovery and Reconstruction Project, funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The equipment provided by JICA enables:

  • high-precision leveling of structures during inspections and testing;

  • determination of the exact position of transport facility elements;

  • assessment of defect volumes, structural damage, and required earthworks;

  • monitoring of structures;

  • topographic surveying of roads and adjacent areas, landslide sites, and land-use planning;

  • detection of internal defects in metal bridge structures;

  • measurement of vibration parameters of examined structures, etc.

In addition, thanks to Toyota vehicles provided by JICA, we can now quickly and safely reach any difficult-to-access site.

SE "NIDI" will always be grateful to the people of Japan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for strengthening its technical capacity. All bridge inspection results are entered into the Analytical Expert Bridge Management System (AESUM), which enables asset managers to make objective decisions regarding bridge repair measures.
